Super Lawyers is a rating service of lawyers who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. The Super Lawyers selection process involves three basic steps: creation of the candidate pool; evaluation of candidates by the research department; and peer evaluation by practice area. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis. The final published list represents no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state.
Super Lawyers also selects Southern California Super Lawyers “Rising Stars”, which honors top up-and-coming lawyers who are 40 years old or younger, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less. The annual selections are made using a process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected to receive this honor.
