Plaintiff, a 29 year old man, was assaulted by other inmates and seriously and permanently injured while he was in custody in a County jail. A gang members assaulted Plaintiff, rendering him unconscious. Plaintiff suffered severe brain damage and will probably be bed-ridden for the rest of his life. Plaintiff claimed that defendants were deliberately indifferent to the serious danger faced by every Caucasian inmate in that jail. Plaintiff claims that in the dormitories of the County Jail where Plaintiff was an inmate, inmate on inmate violence is a daily occurrence, with the members of the gang that attacked Plaintiff effectively in charge of the jail.
